In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • A location in the thick of Trastevere — Guests describe the position as superb and hard to beat, with restaurants close by, a less touristy feel than other central districts, and Rome's main sights within walking distance. Trevi Fountain is about 25 minutes on foot.
  • Genuinely helpful hosts — Reviewers repeatedly mention staff who answer questions over WhatsApp, give restaurant recommendations, arrange airport transfers, and generally make guests feel looked after.
  • Practical, well-equipped rooms — Rooms come with air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, fridges, hairdryers, ironing facilities, and either an in-room safe or a safe deposit box. Guests also note clean bathrooms and comfortable beds.
  • A low price for central Rome — Rates start at £42 per night, which is low for a property this central, and the simple guest-house setup keeps costs down.

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Short, daytime check-in window — Check-in is only from 07:00 to 13:00, and check-out is from 07:00 to 10:00. If you arrive later, you'll need to arrange it directly with the property.
  • More apartment than hotel in feel — The property is described as a guest house, and one guest sums it up as essentially a communal apartment: you get a private room and bathroom, but share a lounge and kitchen. That keeps prices down, but it's not a full-service hotel experience.
  • No pets allowed — The stated policy is that pets are not allowed, so plan for a kennel or sitter if you travel with an animal.

“The staff were lovely and fantastic, which made the whole stay enjoyable. The place was spotless, the location was superb — a four-to-six-minute walk from the Priory Ruins — and we really enjoyed the exceptionally nice double room with fresh, clean towels.”

8.3Verified guest

“An intimate spot with extremely accommodating staff and great views. Breakfast had a huge range of options, including coffee and croissants. The location is very central, a short walk from Southover Grange Gardens, with an excellent restaurant not far from the hotel. Service was excellent within 20 km of the airport.”

8.3Verified guest

“We stayed in a double room with a large bathroom and internet access. The hotel restaurant was excellent, and breakfast was at a local café.”

8.3Verified guest

“I had an excellent stay. The double room was spacious with a nice bathroom, the service was exceptional and the food was freshly made. The Wi-Fi was great, and the location was pleasant and unbeatable.”

8.3Verified guest

“Convenient and quiet, with excellent air conditioning — important in Trastevere — and a location that's hard to beat for returning to Rome. There are excellent restaurants nearby: between the nearby Grazie e Graziella and Tonarello, choose the first. Before lunch there's a wonderful non-touristy market in Piazza San Cosimato with great fresh vegetables, cheeses and meat, plus supermarkets; Sisini has excellent soups, and BIP on Via Roma Libera has excellent panini. The room was perfectly clean with plenty of towels. There's a shared kitchen, guides and books on Italian art, maps, and restaurant business cards. Late check-in was free. The room had a refrigerator, a workspace with a laptop already there, and fast Wi-Fi.”

“My room was well-appointed and had its own bathroom.”
